Learning centre students win their boccia semi-final

Students from The Learning Centre at Brisbane Water Secondary College's Woy Woy campus have won their semi-final in the NSW Boccia Championships, held at the Quay Centre in Sydney on Wednesday, August 14.

Competing against 500 secondary schools, the team finished 13th in the state.

"Our students trained tirelessly and kicked off the tournament with confidence, dominating the first three rounds," said campus principal Ms Rebecca Cooper.

"Round four and five brought some tough competition against the best Boccia teams in the state.

"Despite a valiant effort, we narrowly missed out, going down 3-2 in Round 4 and 4-3 in Round 5.

"Our team regrouped and crushed it in Round six, winning the semi-final 7-3."
