Farewell to long-time bowls player

Umina Beach Bowling Club has said farewell to a long-time Peninsula bowls player.

"Fred and Carol Hawksworth have sold their house in Umina Beach and next week move down south to be nearer to their family," said club secretary Mr Peter Springett.

Last Thursday, April 27, was Mr Hawksworth's last day at Umina Beach Bowling Club, he said.

"Fred was always a gentleman and has been sensational for bowls on the Peninsula.

"He served and played at Woy Woy Bowling Club for 13 years, before joining Umina Beach Men's Bowling Club in July 2016.

"Fred was a long-time coach at Woy Woy and Umina Beach, where he also helped on the welfare committee."

Mr Springett said bowlers at Woy Woy, Umina Beach and Bowls Central Coast were thankful Mr Hawksworth's service Fred.

"We wish you and Carol a happy and healthy next stage of your lives."
