'Masses of polystyrene' collected at Patonga headland

"Masses of polystyrene pieces" have been removed from Patonga headland, according to Clean4Shore co-ordinator Mr Graham Johnston.

He said that sighting of timber flood debris on Monday, February 20, had the clean-up team rock hopping and bagging "hand and plate" sized pieces of polystyrene.

"They all washed downstream from the recent floods," he said.

"This polystyrene was contained in the caravans and refrigerated panels, then smashed against the rocks resulting in the masses of smaller pieces."

He said plastic bottles, rubber thongs, and hard plastics were also collected, along with treated pine sleepers, car tyres, plastic drums, buckets and planter boxes, and delivered to Woy Woy tip.
