Brigade helps with low-hanging power line
Pearl Beach Fire Brigade has helped protect traffic from a low-hanging power line on Pearl Beach Dr.
The brigade was alerted at 7:28am on Sunday, February 19.
"Our crew of volunteers were on-site in minutes, with both our Cat 1 heavy wildfire tanker, and our personnel carrier," said captain Mr Lindsay Boyd.
"We found a cable hanging low across the roadway.
"It could easily have been torn down by a tall vehicle, truck or bus.
"We relieved local resident and a rubbish truck driver who had been protecting passing traffic, and established control of the scene.
"Our crews used rope to temporarily hoist the cable higher, removing the risk to traffic.
"We then handed the scene over to NSW Police."
The brigade will hold a membership information night from 5pm on Sunday, March 25, at the Pearl Beach RFS Station.
