Double standards on coronavirus, says Tesch
The NSW Government is showing double standards by "including us in the Greater Sydney (lockdown) on one day and on another say but you're actually included as a regional area when it comes to the vaccine rollout", according to Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch.
She said local Pfizer vaccines had been redirected to Year 12 students elsewhere "leaving thousands of residents with cancelled appointments".
Ms Tesch said the classification as being "regional ... when it comes to the redirection of vaccines is confusing and disappointing for our community".
"For weeks we have been 'all in this together', working as a community to ensure we do not spread Covid-19 and now we are being punished for our efforts.
"It is absolutely disgusting and a blatant disregard for the health and welfare of our community."
Ms Tesch said the Central Coast had Covid cases and exposure sites, with the most recent being in the cancer ward at Gosford Hospital.
"The Central Coast is the only area encapsulated in the Greater Sydney lockdown to have vaccines redirected," she said.
"While I understand we want year 12 students back in the classroom, many residents have been advised by their GP to get Pfizer due to underlying health conditions."
Ms Tesch said she agreed with Central Coast Parliamentary Secretary Mr Adam Crouch that the Federal Government vaccine rollout has been a disappointing failure.
"Our community deserves adequate access to vaccines in order to protect ourselves from the very real threat of contracting Covid-19 which is what has caused us to be included in the lockdown in the first place."
"Either treat us as a region if our threat really is that low, or admit the failure and provide Pfizer vaccines to those who really need it in our community.
"I encourage everyone who can to book in for AstraZeneca to do so and get vaccinated".
