Students visit Newcastle stadium for numeracy day

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island students from Brisbane Water Secondary College Umina campus have visited Newcastle for a Numeracy Gala Day.

The day was held on Wednesday, May 26, at the McDonald Jones Stadium and hosted by the Wollotuka Institute of Newcastle University and the Newcastle Knights.

"The 12 students got to meet two Knights players, interact with other schools and use their mathematical skills to solve practical problems," said Umina campus principal Ms Kerry O'Heir.

"They also got an insight into what it is like to be a professional athlete as well as seeing behind the scenes of the stadium.

"They had a great day."
