Council chief keeps power to decide all tenders

Central Coast Council chief executive Mr Gary Murphy will keep his delegated powers to decide tenders after councillors met specially to discuss the issue on May 18.

On May 11, Cr Greg Best had questioned the practice of Mr Murphy deciding tenders without them going to a council meeting.

A confidential meeting was held to discuss the delegated powers.

Mayor Cr Lisa Matthews said Cr Best left the meeting before it finished.

"The discussion showed there was nothing wrong," she said.

"Mr Murphy has the same powers of delegation of previous general managers of both Gosford and Wyong former councils," she said.

"Basically, Cr Best blew it out of the water but it wasn't terrible at all.

"At the meeting, we discussed the report that was approved by the full council in March 2018."

The meeting was held remotely on May 18 and as it was a confidential briefing.

The requirement for attendees was that they remain on screen.

Cr Matthews said Cr Best was presumed to have left the meeting as he did not remain on the screen.
