Ocean Beach comes ninth in junior carnival

Ocean Beach Surf Life Saving Club sent a contingent of 35 competitors to the Toowoon Bay Junior Carnival on January 20 and took ninth place overall.

"The OB Gulls (Under 10's) and the Lions (Under 11-12's) continued to dominate the Rescue and Resuscitate event, remaining undefeated this season," said club junior activities director Ms Kylie Falconer.

"The OB Blues (Under 15's) came in second.

"Jacob Falconer had an impressive day winning the Under 12 Boys Surf Race and Board Race, coming second in the Ironperson and the beach sprint.

"Ryan Mason won the Under12 Boys Flags.

"To top it off, Katelyn Wardell and Lexi Smithers combined with Ryan and Jacob to win the Under 12 Mixed Relay," Ms Falconer said.

"The rest of the results came on the beach, with Jessica Majsak (second) and Jonty Beaton (third) in the Under 9's Beach Flags.

In the Under 8's Alister Beale-West came third in the Flags in his very first carnival and can't wait to go to the next one.

"He also scored silver when he combined with Tully Sheumack and two young chaps from Killcare in the Under 8's Wade Relay," Ms Falconer said.
