Is a roundabout worth more than 14 homes?

Roads and Maritime have asked for feedback on their proposal to spend $7m on a roundabout on the corner Picnic Pde and Maitland Bay Dr, Ettalong

This roundabout will include some footpaths, a cycleway on Maitland Bay Dr and an entry off Maitland Bay Dr into a carpark.

You can build a nice four bedroom, two bathroom home with double garage for under $500,000.

Is a roundabout worth more than 14 new homes?

They don't have to buy the land and all it should take is a couple of truckloads of cement and some formwork plus labour.

They put traffic lights in at Daleys Point and to my way of thinking they are a much more positive way of controlling traffic and probably a lot cheaper.
