Residents plant street on tree day

Umina families and residents have come together to improve their local environment and beautify their street as part of National Tree Day.

Residents and families from Gwendolen Ave joined together and planted Christmas bush and other plants on Sunday, July 30.

"With the trend in higher density living, there has never been a greater need for trees," Ms Sunartha said.

"Local governments are becoming more conscious of the benefits of street trees, as research finds canopy in the urban environment has important cooling and air filtering effect," she said
