Council nominations close this week
Nominations for candidates seeking to be elected to the Central Coast Council opened on Monday, July 31.
Nominations must be lodged with the Returning Officer before 12pm on Wednesday, August 9.
Council administrator Mr Ian Reynolds said the Coast was a diverse community with almost 100 people attending candidate information sessions.
"Council held a number of information sessions for potential candidates across May and June this year and expects this will lead to a number of them officially putting their hat into the ring," Mr Reynolds said.
"Council is on the cusp of change, now with an opportunity to represent the entire Coast region," he said.
The Central Coast Local Government Area is divided into five wards: Gosford West Ward, Gosford East Ward, The Entrance Ward, Wyong Ward and Budgewoi Ward, with three councillors to be elected in each ward.
The Peninsula is located in the Gosford West Ward, while residents on the other side of the Rip Bridge are in Gosford East Ward.
Three councillors will represent each Ward.
The September 9 election is being conducted by the NSW Electoral Commission, and candidates wishing to nominate are encouraged to refer to the NSW Electoral Commission's website.
