Whale sculptures to be installed
Six giant fibreglass mosaic whale tail sculptures are expected to be installed in the recreation precinct adjacent to Umina oval in December.
Members of the community participated in mosaic workshops in the Peninsula Recreation Precinct building to help create the sculptures.
According to Gosford Council's parks development officer Ms Emma Wallace, the workshops were "a great success with people of all ages coming to help".
The project began when the Rotary Club of Umina Beach applied for Community Building Partnership Program funding in 2010 to support the installation of public art work and Braille-Auslan plaques throughout the playground.
