Residents call for different route
Residents of Schnapper Rd, Ettalong, have petitioned council to stop the road being used as a feeder route for traffic to the Ettalong markets and hotel complex.
The petition with 16 signatures that requested Council investigate ways of discouraging loud patrons of the complex from speeding along the road and that it control the overflow parking at the complex.
The petition stated that Schnapper Rd was being heavily used as a preferred feeder source for traffic to access the markets and hotel complex.
It stated that the complex housed several cinemas and restaurants, and on weekends, the area was congested with traffic in Schnapper Rd, with parking continuing as far as Flounder Rd and into Bream Rd.
Petitioners said they were frustrated by sleep interruptions as patrons regularly left the complex late at night and sped along Schnapper Rd, particularly between the hours of 9pm and 1am.
