Wood ducks

Today I walked to the shop at Pearl Beach; stopping to admire a pair of wood ducks with their wonderful plumage.

My mind went back 20 years.

My best friend Stan White phoned to ask me to come to Queen's Gardens in Perth to see a rare pair of ducks.

At that time, they were only found in northern Australia.

Since then with the spread of farming the ducks have also increased their range.

Progress does not automatically harm nature.

With good planning we can conserve it.
