Food and wine donated for fundraising raffle

Producers who were to exhibit at a cancelled fundraising food and wine show in Pearl Beach have decided to donate a selection of their goods for a raffle instead.

The annual Pearl Beach Food and Wine Fare event was to be run by the Pearl Beach Progress Association to raise funds for renovation of the Pearl Beach Memorial Hall renovations, before it was cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions.

A hamper raffle will now be held outside the Pearl Beach Cafe on Saturday, October 3.

Association publicity officer Ms Lynne Lillico said some of the exhibitors who had planned to attend the event had donated to the association instead.

"I am delighted that our regular exhibitors contacted me to say that they would like to donate a selection of their wine and produce," she said.

"We can now hold the annual raffle with the proceeds going to the hall renovations and upkeep."

Gourmet hampers will contain a selection of wines, cheese and other produce.

Association president Mr Peter Romey said the club had directed fundraising efforts into online and electronic methods.

"Covid-19 has affected Memorial Hall income and traditional fundraising methods," Mr Romey said.

"We have launched an additional GoFundMe page."

All proceeds from the raffle and the GoFundMe page will go directly to the Pearl Beach Memorial Hall renovations.
