Bouddi Society hosts art show

The Bouddi Society hosted its Bouddi Art Show in the Wagstaffe Hall over the June long weekend.

The show featured works from artists living on the Bouddi Peninsula.

Despite the mixed weather, the show had record numbers of paintings, woodwork, ceramics and leatherwork entries, with 26 exhibiting artists.

"The total sales for the show exceeded $10,000, and there was a record level in door donations and in the purchase of raffle tickets," said Wagstaffe-Killcare Community Association president Ms Peta Colebatch.

"Overall the Bouddi Society made $3500 from the show.

"The show was opened by Mr John Bell who gave a talk on the history of art which covered Italy in the Renaissance period starting in the 13th century.

"The big winner for the weekend was Meg Lewer from Wagstaffe who sold one of her paintings for $1600 and also won the raffle prize," Ms Colebatch concluded.
