Hope that mayor stands up for policies she expressed
I would like to congratulate Cr Jane Smith on being elected to the position of Mayor of the new Central Coast Council.
I hope Jane will stand up for the policies she expressed in the lead-up to the election.
I am sure that with her background in marine science that she will lead the new councillors in the direction we need to fix the entrance to the Brisbane Water and have a proper solution in place before the ferry service or a pleasure boat runs aground and possibly puts lives at risk.
The channel needs to have a solution that alleviates the blockage, replenishes the sand back onto the beaches from where it came and is not just a band aid solution like what has been done in the past few months.
I will be interested to see what solutions she will put forward to the new council and how quickly she will do this as the closing of this channel is getting worse every day so the quicker these works are done the better.
This will be a test on how this new council will work, whether or not they all can work together and how she will go as the new leader.
Please don't forget, as it was in the past, the forgotten south.
The Peninsula community will be watching with interest to see if anyone will stand up for us.
