Jemma selected for international challenge
Umina Surf Life Saving Club member Jemma Smith has been named one of six NSW surf sport athletes that will contest the 2017 International Surf Rescue Challenge in New Zealand in November.
The team has been confirmed by Surf Life Saving Australia last week with a host of familiar names joining the NSW contingent in a squad that boasts plenty of experience on the international stage.
"It's an honour to be selected in any representative side, but to wear the colours of your country is obviously the pinnacle of an athlete's career," said Surf Sport Manager, Mr Rob Pidgeon.
Events in the Surf and Beach disciplines will be contested with the competition considered a vital part of preparations for the 2018 World Lifesaving Championships that will be held in South Australia.
