Know your koala's favourite tree
Koalas are vulnerable to extinction and have declined by 75 per cent in NSW.
Gosford's koala population is one of the last significant coastal populations in NSW.
I have been studying Gosford's koala population for two years and have located and monitored koalas and analysed droppings within the Ettymalong Creek area.
While National Parks address overall conservation, a lack of koala habitat definition and conservation within council areas is possibly the greatest threat to this unique species.
I have observed that Gosford's koalas vigorously favour one or two individual trees within a season, close to houses.
Not being aware of these individual trees or ecological detail threatens local koalas.
