It's easy to get an item published in Peninsula News.
Just write it out and send it in.
Political influence or special friends are not required.
However, there are a few simple guidelines, according to Peninsula News editor Mark Snell.
The item has to be news: something that has just happened or is about to happen.
It has to be local to the Peninsula community:
This means it must specifically concern the Peninsula, and not just as part of the region, state or nation. It must happen on the Peninsula or be for, about or by named Peninsula people or groups.
Write in simple direct English. Use short sentences, in the same style as other items in the newspaper.
The first sentence or two should tell who is doing what, where and when.
Make sure someone is quoted, particularly if the item contains endorsement or criticism.
"Writers may quote themselves," said Mr Snell.
The item should be dated and contact details must accompany it, whether for publication or not.
