Community garden receives $14,500 grant
Woy Woy Peninsula Community Garden has received $14,500 for capital works under the NSW Community Building Partnership program.
It will be spent on fencing, gates, work benches and storage for the community garden.
Member for Gosford Ms Liesl Tesch said the community garden and its team of passionate volunteers brought immense joy to locals' lives.
"I know how much joy I get from getting out in my garden, feeling my hands in the soil, getting amongst the joy of nature and enjoying the mindful pleasure that gardening brings to our lives," she said.
"Members of our community from all walks of life are so very fortunate to have such a beautiful space in which to learn about the theoretical and practical aspects of growing and using food in a way that's ecologically sustainable."
The Garden's public officer Ms Tania Haydn said the funding would go towards improvements and upgrades.
"Our focus is on enhancing facilities by installing workbenches and storage units inside the existing building and creating a secure storage area outside for our garden composting equipment.
"The capital work improvements will help sustain our garden resources for the future and deliver positive social, recreational and safety outcomes at the garden for both the community and our team of volunteers."
The Community Building Partnership program has funded more than 19,700 community projects since it commenced in 2009.
The Woy Woy Peninsula Community Garden is located at 85 Moana St, Woy Woy.
