Aged care staffing changes to meet resident needs
A Umina aged care provider has "strategically increased" the number of personal care assistants and registered nurses to meet the evolving needs of its residents.
"The profile of our residents has changed," said Peninsula Villages chief executive Mr Colin Osborne.
"They are often frailer and require more intensive care for shorter stays compared to just two years ago.
"We've used this initiative to create new positions specifically designed to improve residents' lives and wellbeing."
He said key additions included a memory support coordinator to enrich the lives of residents with dementia.
A second nurse practitioner had been appointed to ensure seven-day-a-week availability for residents receiving complex nursing and palliative care, he said.
Two new care manager positions had been created "to strengthen leadership and support for care teams" and a dedicated registered nurse had been appointed, specialising in wound care.
"These additional care staff and specialist roles will complement our existing care model," said Mr Osborne.
"We are committed to providing the highest quality care possible at Peninsula Villages, and this investment ensures our residents continue to receive the exceptional support they deserve."
