Mirrors for Wards Hill Rd

Gosford Council has resolved to place a convex mirror at each of the hairpin bends on Wards Hill Rd, following a request from Busways.

Busways advised council that bus drivers continue to experience dangerous situations on the two bends in Wards Hill Rd as they are required to traverse the opposing travel lane in order to ensure that the length of the bus gets around the bends without having to stop and reverse.

A report from council's traffic committee stated that "Vision of approaching vehicles from the opposite direction is paramount in ensuring that head-on collisions do not occur."

It also recommended that "council erect a convex traffic mirror at each bend to improve safety for bus drivers and their passengers, as well as motorists approaching the bends from the other direction".
