Irish band plays at folk club

Irish band Gael Mor will play at the Troubadour Folk Club at the CWA Hall, Woy Woy, at 8pm on Friday night, April 8.

Gael Mor is a three-piece group that performs a wide variety of Irish music for listening and dancing.

They have just returned from performing at the National Folk Festival in Canberra and tour Ireland regularly.

Band leader Pam Merrigan said: "We like playing at the Troubadour and are looking forward to having an Irish session."

The Central Coast Bush Dance and Music Association, which runs the folk club, will host a bush dance at the East Gosford Progress Hall at 8pm the following night, with bush band Snake Gully.

Club members will also feature at the St Albans Folk Festival taking place at St Albans from April 22 to 25.

They will perform either individually or in groups and are also involved in organizing the event.

The club will hold a Bob Dylan tribute concert at the Peninsula Theatre on Mothers' Day, May 8.

Visiting guest artists will include Duncan Chalmers, Jason and Chloe Roweth, Chris Frasier and locals will include Earlwood Greg.

They will all only perform songs written by Bob Dylan and The Band.

The concert commences at 2pm and tickets are available from Peninsula Music, George St, Woy Woy, who can be contacted on 4342 9099.

Event organiser Ms Marilyn Russell said: "Mothers and grandmothers who are Bob Dylan fans are being particularly encouraged to attend the Bob Dylan tribute concert as something different to do on Mothers Day."

Members of the public are welcome at all events and anyone wishing to perform should contact Peninsula Music beforehand.
