Group complains about problem jet skiers
The Bays Community Group, along with other resident groups on the Peninsula, has written to the NSW Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight to raise concerns about problem jet skiers.
Minister Ms Melinda Pavey has said that in 2015 the NSW government had launched a crackdown on dangerous and anti-social riders, according to group president Ms Cathy Gleeson.
She said that in the last year, RMF officers had inspected 623 personal watercraft and issued 17 penalty notices and 14 cautions for breaches of legislation in Brisbane Water.
She said the installation of CCTV cameras in problem areas was being investigated.
According to the Bays Community Group, Maritime NSW has stated that it was helpful if the registration number of the jet ski was recorded but skiers should not be confronted.
Residents who see a problem jet skier or any other boating concerns can contact the NSW Maritime Access Line on 131 236 or Brisbane Water safety officer Mr Mark Raward on 0418 460 294.
