Boom gates smashed
Officers from Brisbane Water Local Area Command are investigating damage to boom gates at the level crossing on Rawson Rd, Woy Woy.
A vehicle waiting on the western side of the level crossing on Monday, September 9, suddenly drove directly into the western boom gate, knocking the boom gate off, and then crossed onto the wrong side of the road, according to police.
The vehicle then drove into the eastern boom gate and knocked it off as well.
The incident occurred before the train approached, and the vehicle left the scene immediately.
Police attended the scene shortly after the incident occurred and, due to safety concerns, stopped all vehicle traffic from crossing the tracks.
Trains were stopped for approximately 50 minutes while repairs were carried out.
Anyone who has any information on this incident should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Gosford Police Station on 4323 5599.
