I can't remember ...
After previously listing about 20 wonderful reasons I remembered for preferring the 50s to the present time, I'd now like to list some of the things I can't remember about those times.
I can't remember 80,000 (and still counting) Aussie jobs going offshore.
I can't remember any Muslim inspired riots, as a matter of fact I don't remember many Muslims.
I can't remember any boat people, less you count the 10 Pound Poms who overall weren't a bad lot.
I can't remember the words "obese" and "children" being used in the same sentence.
Kids then played outside with bat and ball not glued to iPads or electronic games.
I can't remember dairy farmers being screwed out of business by the big supermarkets.
Supermarkets, what were they?
Or orange growers having to plough their entire crop back in the ground because of cheap imports.
I can't remember buying imported tinned fruit and other foodstuffs.
Didn't we used to export it?
I don't remember country towns with half the shops closed or hotels with poker machines.
I don't remember a carbon tax.
And last but not least, I don't remember having such a clutch of rat bags on both sides of Parliament.
