Strong results by Woy Woy South
A review of results from the National Assessment Program for Literacy and Numeracy has indicated a strong performance by Woy Woy South Public School students in all areas tested.
Principal Mr Terry Greedy said trend data that plots school results over a five year period in each of the key areas of literacy and numeracy have shown a steady rise in overall school results, with Year 3 showing significant gains in these areas.
The tests assess student performance in five areas of the curriculum comprising reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation and numeracy.
"In all five areas the growth rates for students from Years 3 to 5 are all above state levels with the school's growth rates being so good that we are ranked in the top four schools in our designated school education group," said Mr Greedy.
"A number of new programs and approaches to teaching in literacy and numeracy that have been introduced over the past three years are starting to have a positive impact on the schools results.
"This is a clear indication of the effectiveness of the programs and reflects the quality of the education being provided for students," he said.
