World's worst jetty rents
The fight over excessive jetty rents has been going on for more than six years.
It seems that there is agreement within the government agencies and IPART that the data they originally used was wrong and IPART has stated on two occasions that the agencies did not implement the system correctly.
On those two points alone and by my calculations that has led to overcharging as compared to what IPART originally intended of between two and three times but we are still expected to pay despite these admissions.
And that doesn't even bring to account the other major errors in the original IPART formula.
No one else in the world pays anything like the rents currently charged in NSW.
Let's hope this government can implement a soundly based market rent system.
