Money-hungry council fines overdue rates
In a bid to crack down on overdue rates and recoup some of the costs, the council voted on Tuesday night to introduce a $24 overdue notice fee.
Councils are careless, money hungry and out of ratepayer's control.
Almost a lifetime ago, local councils won the right to sell up people who did not pay their rates.
Before that change in the law, a property owner was safe from being dispossessed of his land.
The government had to wait in line to claim the money owed from the deceased estate.
I guess borrowings and misgovernance are taking a toll on ratepayer's fiscal well-being.
