Funding for broadband
As part of the 2011 Federal Budget three Peninsula seniors organisations will receive a total of $21,100 in funding for the Broadband to Seniors program.
Woy Woy Community Aged Care will receive $7300, Peninsula Community Centre will receive $6900 and Livingchoice Deepwater Court will receive $6900 as part of the program.
The program provides seniors with free set-top boxes as well as staffed internet kiosks at community hubs.
Federal Treasurer and Deputy Prime Minister Mr Wayne Swan said it was important to assist seniors in the broadband switchover.
"What we are doing is assisting some of the most vulnerable people in our community with the switch over to digital television, so they're not left in the dark as a consequence of that switchover."
