Book launch

A book launch of Newtown Then 1929-1939 will take place at Woy Woy Library in the Spike Milligan room on Wednesday, June 1, from 2pm

Empire Bay author Jim Conway was originally from Newtown.

The book is about the working class community and the trials and tribulations of the 1930s depression.

Mr Conway said the book linked the dialogue with comments on cultural, economic and political issues of the era, such as unemployment, industrial relations and youth gangs.

Mr Conway completed a Bachelor of Arts with history and sociology majors and a Masters in sociology before writing and publishing his latest book.
