Reason for donations

Donations of money have been given to politicians since the days of the Roman Senate.

The questionable part, I think, is not the source but the amount given.

I know some donations are given in the spirit of co-operation and some because they like the stamp of the candidate.

But for others, it is play it safe or for an effective lobby at the right time.
