Blue day at bowls club

Umina Beach Women's Bowling Club held a BeyondBlue day on Tuesday, February 22, to raise awareness of depression and anxiety amongst the bowls community.

Approximately 60 women attended sporting blue scarves, caps, jewellery and T-shirts in support of the day.

"A speaker for the Bowls Association on ABC radio gave an interview on the morning program, stating depression and anxiety was helped a great deal by the social aspects of this game, as it is a non eye-contact sport, and not confronting to participants, unlike other sports," said club publicity officer Ms Eve Phillips.

"We would love to have guests along to our social bowls days.

"There is free coaching on Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings," said Ms Phillips.
