Security fence for Woy Woy South
A new security fence valued at $229,000 has been installed at Woy Woy South Public School in an attempt to minimise vandalism and break-ins.
The fence will be used with other security measures including guard patrols, electronic surveillance and alarms to keep Woy Woy South Public School secure.
"Security fences work to help keep vandals and other criminals out of our schools," said Member for Gosford Ms Marie Andrews.
"When we look at schools that have had fences installed, we can see a distinct decline in security incidents, like malicious damage and break and enters.
"While the incidence of malicious damage has been increasing on all NSW premises by 10.3 per cent from 2000 to 2009, the incidence on government school premises in NSW is falling.
"From 2005 to 2009, it dropped by more than 43 per cent."
Ms Andrews said the security fence was installed through the Building Better Schools program, the largest state-funded public education and training capital works program undertaken in NSW.
