Preparation for sacraments
The Catholic Parish of Woy Woy Peninsula is offering a program for baptised Catholic children to prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
The program is for local Catholic children who have already been confirmed.
An information night is being held in the Ethel Cox Centre on Tuesday, October 20, from 7.30pm for parents and their children to attend.
"Parents of eligible children are advised of coming programs through the various schools and are invited to attend an information evening to be held in the parish hall prior to the commencement of the actual program," parishioner Mr Adrian McInnes said.
"At this meeting, parents are invited to sign up for attendance at four weekly sessions which are to be held on a Monday through to Thursday on either late afternoons or early evenings. "These follow-up sessions are to be attended by the children, accompanied by at least one parent.
"After the information evening, the children are presented to the parish community at the Sunday Masses and parishioners are invited to pray for the children and their families as they undertake the preparation program.
"The four week program then begins.
"The facilitators who organise the meetings are not present in the role of children's teachers.
"The programs are organised in such a way as to encourage the parents to fulfil the teaching role while the facilitators assist the parents to meet the responsibility of being their children's primary faith educators.
"Once the four weekly program has been completed, the children are ready to approach the sacraments."
The Ethel Cox Centre is located at 100 Blackwall Rd, Woy Woy.
