Pearl Beach Proms evening
More than 170 community members attended the Pearl Beach Proms evening early last month to raise a total of $2195 for the Umina PCYC.
Event publicity officer Ms Rosemary Ruthven said: "Albert Hall it wasn't and the conductor looked remarkably like our much loved Chris Bearman from the Central Coast Conservatorium, but 175 enthusiastic attendees made their way to the Pearl Beach Community Hall and paid $10 to attend the Pearl Beach Proms.
"Officiated by Dr John Irvine, local singers, musicians and guest artists took audience members on a musical journey from the British Isles to the Great Southern Land of Australia, with plenty of laughs along the way.
"More than 40 members of the community put in their time, talents and energy over a 12 month period to make this happen.
"Hungerford Hill Winery and local businesses on the Peninsula donated generously to make the evening a success."
Senior constable Ms Renae Jackson, case worker for Umina PCYC, said many local youths just needed someone to show them there was a "better way to live".
Manager of PCYC Umina Ms Allison Carpenter expressed her appreciation for the donation.
