Performing at children's festival
Children's entertainers Brendan Boney and Tessa Nuku of Umina will perform at the Sydney Children's Festival across the October school holidays.
Their performance as Microwave Jenny is described as a young indigenous Australian folk-jazz duo.
Ms Nuku said they are excited to be performing in front of hundreds of children at the festival's opening concert.
"Microwave Jenny sing positive spirited music with contagious melodies and honest, sincere lyrics that share their unique outlook on life, love and the world," Ms Nuku said.
Having worked together as Microwave Jenny for three years, Ms Nuku and Mr Boney said the greatest thing about living on the Peninsula was the laid-back beach atmosphere.
They were looking forward to singing along with the Sydney Children's Choir.
"Hopefully the children who take part will enjoy the whole festival,.
Microwave Jenny first began after the two young singer-songwriters in Boney and Nuku met a year out of high school, backstage at a show.
With the realisation they shared the same kind of musical direction and an undeniable chemistry, Microwave Jenny was born.
Mr Boney had spent the early part of his life growing up and playing soccer in country NSW where his love for music began in local high school bands.
The duo soon began playing clubs and pubs where their unique brand of folk-jazz versions of contemporary songs soon led to a strong following.
