Volunteers receive awards
Five local volunteers have been awarded Certificates of Appreciation to Australian Volunteers by Member for Robertson Ms Belinda Neal.
Ms Neal commended the volunteer efforts in a speech to Federal Parliament to mark National Volunteers Week last month.
"Their efforts are focused not on promoting their own interests but on the interests and wellbeing of others and on the betterment of the Central Coast," Ms Neal said.
"They certainly make our world a better place to live in."
Volunteers recognised for their hard work and commitment to Peninsula organisations included Ms Thea Bradshaw for her work at The Bays Community Group, Ann March and Gary Rohr for their work at Woy Woy Before and After School Care Group, and James Kennedy and Bruce Bennett for their work at The Web Youth Service in Umina Beach.
"Volunteering has been integral in maintaining the social and community fabric of the Central Coast for decades," Ms Neal said.
