Group restores lawn on waterfront

Several residents of the Bays community have volunteered their time to restore an area of lawn on the Phegans Bay waterfront.

"In a successful effort, soil and turf were used to replace a large area which had no grass growing and was mainly dirt," said The Bays Community Group president Mr Bob Puffett.

"There was also an unsafe hole between the dirt and the wall where the dirt had washed away.

"Several volunteers worked all morning to get the job done.

"It was then watered and roped off to allow the turf to take to the soil.

"Now we have an attractive and safe piece of lawn on our waterfront ... and when the grass is ready to be used, another area where kids can play happily."

The turf and soil for the project was supplied by the Bays Community Group.
