Lloyd appointed as minister
Member for Robertson Mr Jim Lloyd has been appointed Federal Minister for Local Government, Territories and Roads.
Speaking at his swearing-in ceremony at Admiralty House, Sydney, Mr Lloyd said it was a great honour to represent the people of the Robertson electorate.
"This further opportunity to serve as Federal Minister would simply not have been possible without the continued strong support of the Central Coast community," he said.
"In 1993, the community rallied around my campaign to reopen the Old Pacific Highway, which ultimately saw the road reopen in June 1994," Mr Lloyd said.
"After being elected in 1996, the Widen the F3 campaign again resulted in a successful outcome with the Howard Government committing $86 million to complete the widening project at Mt White," Mr Lloyd said.
"I am delighted to have roads as part of my portfolio and look forward to implementing the $11.8 billion dollar Auslink Roads and Rail Initiative, including a further $50 million for F3 works between Berowra and Wahroonga," Mr Lloyd said.
"Despite my increased responsibilities, the needs of the Central Coast community will always remain my first priority.
"My electorate office staff and some Ministerial staff will be based in Gosford to deal with local issues," Mr Lloyd said.
"With the Central Coast continuing to grow at a rapid rate, I will continue to fight to secure the services and infrastructure which we urgently require," Mr Lloyd concluded.
