Medical plans again
Wardend Developments has made an application to build a $1.1 million medical centre on land adjacent to the residential house factory and shop owned by Mr Louis Phillip James in West St, Umina.
Gosford Council will again be asked by Mr Edward James to excuse itself as the consent authority because its assessment of the development so close to council's own holdings in Alfred St, Umina, may be seen as conflicted.
The previous application 11923/2001, the product of Messrs Ian Burl and David Kettle, initially totally ignored the existence of the factory and residential house of Mr LPV James to the south of the proposed development.
And it seems that the well known fact that sewer lines ran through the underground car park at an average depth of 2.5 metres was overlooked even though it would interfere with the requirements for 18 vehicle spaces, and may have influenced Wardend developments decision to apply for a new D/A 24782/2004.
An important issue for ratepayers and businesses in Umina is the 42 year old factory and Umina Charcoal Chicken desperately needs to have rear access formalised by the creation of a delivery lane which will allow the factory gate and only legitimate access to the factory site to be replaced with a shop front in keeping with the strip shopping growing so quickly in West St, Umina.
Other questions relating to allegedly falsified instruments and maladministration are yet to have been properly addressed.
It is also noted that the process is already of to a bad start with Gosford Council making a mess of the required advertising process.
Here we go again.
Edward James, Umina
