Music festival declared a success

Festival committee member Ivan Kinny meets with the dynamic "Voice Squad" The enthusiastic audience enjoyed a warm winter afternoon The Pearl Beach Progress Association's Events Committee has declared its music festival an outstanding success.

The 2004 Pearl Beach Music Festival was held over the June long weekend with five performances by classical artists.

Lynne Lillico from the Pearl Beach Progress Association's events committee said the program placed emphasis on the baroque and renaissance periods.

"It is a style of music which has proved particularly popular with audiences in previous years," she said.

"Audience participation was enthusiastic and feedback has indicated that this year's festival was the best ever."

Central Coast ABC radio presenter Scott Levi launched the festival followed by a performance from The Australian Youth Orchestra Wind Quartet.

A cappella ensemble, The Renaissance Men, performed on the Sunday evening and The Romanza Ensemble gave a concert on the Monday.

"The Tank Stream String Quartet provided a vigorous program on Sunday afternoon," Ms Lillico said.

"The cabaret and jazz style repertoire of the somewhat more funky Voice Squad on Saturday evening helped to liven the festival.

"Feedback from performers congratulated audience attendance and enthusiastic participation, and complimented us on the excellent acoustics of the venue."

All proceeds from the Festival are used by the Pearl Beach Progress Association for its environmental projects.
