Democracy in action at council candidates' forum
No snow. Heatwaves in August. Has climate change arrived?
Is climate change action on the council's agenda?
It was almost standing room only at the excellent candidates forum organised by the Peninsula Residents' Association held at Everglades Club.
The residents' association is acknowledged as the voice for Peninsula residents with its competent committee, supported by informed and concerned residents.
When events of this magnitude are advertised, it is normal to focus on economic and employment benefits.
Democracy is seldom an issue of importance.
This has been rectified by the Peninsula Residents' Association.
There is a long road ahead however.
The meeting has given residents a surge of enthusiasm for the future, certainly overdue since the Amalgamation.
Basking in the euphoria of the residents' association meeting will not get the job done.
Euphoria will increase morale but it will not move the rock.
