Clean4Shore joins Floating Landcare for clean-up
Clean4Shore joined Floating Landcare on Wednesday, April 24, with the bushcare group working on asparagus fern on Pelican Island in Woy Woy Channel.
A trip was made to Lobster Beach following reports of stacked rubbish on the beach.
This turned out to be flood timber debris with recreational visitors shaping "teepees" with the timber.
Two very large treated pine poles were carried from the beach plus an old mattress with the foreshore revealing masses of old timber on the tidal beach.
Polystyrene had accumulated at this site, all small hand size, with two bags removed plus hard plastic, drums, buckets, poly pipe and rubber balls.
On the trip back towards Ettalong, there was a large plastic swimming pool liner tangled in the rocks.
With a bit of difficulty, this was loaded on board.
Beside this pool, there were two pieces of large plastic pipe 300mm in diameter.
These were also lifted on board.
Returning to Pelican Island, the bushcare group had gathered old carpet and a full bag of plastics from the foreshore along Woy Woy Channel.
A total of 420 kilos was off loaded at Woy Woy Tip, not including the large pipe that will be recycled.
