Parole revoked

A 29-year-old Umina man has been arrested and charged with stealing a motor vehicle and had his parole for previous offences has been revoked after a spree of car thefts and a robbery in south western Sydney last month.

He was charged on Thursday, February 10.

He was refused bail and appeared in Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday, February 16.

The man allegedly stole two vehicles from shopping centre car parks in Merrylands and Burwood on Wednesday, January 19.

It was alleged the man assaulted and robbed a woman the following evening in the car park of a shopping centre in Bankstown.

The 23-year-old woman was allegedly dragged a number of metres after she was pushed to the ground and had her handbag stolen.

The man allegedly returned to the Burwood shopping centre on Thursday, February 3, and stole another vehicle, before driving to a shopping centre in Parramatta where he was recognised by security guards.

He was detained and police were called.
