Childcare centre proposed

Gosford Council staff have recommended the approval of a development application to build a child care centre over three allotments in Nowack Ave, Umina.

The proposal from Umina Kids Club stated that the childcare centre would accommodate 72 children and eight staff members at any one time, and would operate between the hours of 7.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.

The development would require the demolition of all the existing dwellings and ancillary structures on the site.

The application was received by council on February 15.

A council staff report stated that "the proposed child care centre is permissible within the 2(b) residential zone and will provide an important service to the surrounding residential area".

It also stated that potential noise and amenity concerns had been addressed by way of conditions of consent.
