The Salvation Army has vowed to rebuild after a devastating arson attack on its Umina Beach church hall.

Brisbane Water Police are hunting two male youths they believe are responsible.

Peninsula Residents Action Group coordinator Ms Juanita Hutchensson said graffiti was a problem on the Peninsula.

"We understand that teenagers act out in various ways and we understand they often don't do the most sensible things," she said.

"But graffiti is really unsightly and it doesn't help the community."

Umina Bunnies captain Todd Maloney was the only Central Coast player selected in the NSW Country Side to tour New Zealand later this month.

Maloney has been selected as a bench player in the 20-man squad to play a round robin series against New Zealand Residents, Queensland Country and the Jim Beam Cup representative side.

A man who allegedly stole 29 guitars from music stores at Erina and East Gosford in April failed to appear in Gosford Court recently.

The Daleys Point resident was due to face three break and enter charges but was remanded in a rehabilitation unit at Niagara Park.

A Umina Beach man who allegedly raped a Tasmanian woman was granted bail in an extradition hearing at Gosford Local Court recently.

He was granted bail and will appear in court in Tasmania on July 12.

Two local environment groups have urged the local councils to reject proposed mobile desalination plants and instead support water recycling.

It was recently revealed that the six locations for the proposed desalination plants would include Budgewoi, Toukley, Wamberal, Saratoga and Umina.

The Woy Woy Public Library Building celebrated its 75th anniversary this year.

It began life as home for the growing Woy Woy Shire Council, later became a bank and courthouse and, finally, a Library.

A new Salvation Army store which opened last month at Woy Woy has joined a host of charity centres dedicated to helping Peninsula residents.

Salvation Army Central Coast area manager Ms Trish Will said the new premises, at 74 Rawson Ave, was a welcome addition to their chain of stores.

A man, 25, of Booker Bay, who was charged with breaking and entering and theft was refused bail at Gosford Local Court last Wednesday.

Police from the anti theft squad responded to a break in at Bream Rd, Ettalong Beach, at 5pm last Tuesday.

The 19-year-old from Woy Woy, did not enter a plea to the alleged assault of Wycliff Manapori, 18, of Tregear.
