Lions have high hopes

The Woy Woy Rugby League Club, the Lions, are looking forward to a highly-placed finish at the end of this year's season, according to club media officer Mr George Simpkins.

If the Lions win the next few games, they will be placed second in the competition and eligible to play in the grand final.

First Grade coach Mr Ross Hopkins said: "There is no point in winning games against teams at the bottom of the ladder, if you cannot beat the teams that are around you on the ladder.

"We need to test ourselves, and if we are going to go further in this competition we will win these games.'"

The club qualified for the finals last year, and are hoping at least to match that success this year, Mr Hopkins said.

"We set ourselves the goal of finishing in the top two in 2004 in First Grade and we finished fourth," said Mr Hopkins.

"This year we have that same goal.

"The future of the Lions looks encouraging with Junior numbers exceeding expectations and Senior numbers at a all time high."'
