Brigade members walk to Little Wobby to fight fire
Three members of the Patonga Volunteer Rural Bush Fire Brigade have walked from Patonga to Little Wobby on the Hawkesbury River on Wednesday, September 25, to fight a fire.
The area was not accessible by vehicle so the Patonga brigade members walked in with rake hoes and knapsacks and spent the day cutting firebreaks with hand tools to protect property.
They put in a 10-hour shift, helping crews from Erina, the mitigation team and boat crews to contain the fire.
Rural Fire Service crews continued working on the fire the following day, which was being accessed only by boat or helicopter.
